Q01. Is it possible to vary the speed of the constant speed motor?

Constant speed motor speed cannot be changed. However, it is possible to change the conveying speed by replacing the gear head.

Q02. What is the Life of a motor?

Motor standard life is 10,000 hours with a constant load of 8 hours of operation per day.
* This may vary greatly depending on your usage environment, please consider this as a reference only.

Q03. Do motors on MISUMI conveyors have common or standardized mounting dimensions?

Mounting pitch diameters match most motor manufacturers, however, motor shaft lengths may vary depending on manufacturers. Please check the product page for details.

Q04. Is it possible to buy a conveyor without a motor?

It is possible. Please purchase a Beltless/Driveless Conveyor. These units are supplied with the separate components and require assembly.

Q05. Do I need to consider selecting motor output specification when ordering Beltless/Driveless Conveyors?

Yes, since some parts may vary in sizes depending on motor outputs.

Q06. For variable speed motors, are the motors and speed controllers provided as sets?

Yes.

Q07. Can speed be decreased and increased using a speed controller?

The gearhead speeds shown on the catalog are the max. speeds. The speeds can only be decreased from the max. values shown.

Q08. Can the speeds controlled from PLCs?

Yes. Please select the constant speed motor with inverter option.

Q09. Do motors ever drip oil?

No. However, this does not apply if the motors are oil lubricated by customers.

Q10. Can MISUMI provide reversible motors with conveyors? Is it possible to special order from Misumi? Can I mount third-party reversible motors on MISUMI conveyors?

MISUMI does not provide special ordered conveyors with reversible motors. Our conveyors are not designed for reverse direction operation, and if used in that manner, the belt may drift off track. In addition, there is a possibility that the size of the motor is different, resulting in interference.

Q11. Do you support waterproof standards on motors (IP standards).

Motors used on MISUMI conveyors are not IP rated.

Q12. Where are speed controllers located? Are brackets provided?

MISUMI conveyors and speed controllers are provided separately to allow the customer to mount the speed controller in their system. Customers requiring brackets are to provide them separately.

Q13. Are Misumi motors explosion proof?

No, they are not explosion proof.

Q14. What would be the motor speed when the speed control knob is turned all the way to the minimum setting?

Although it may vary up to conveyor length, width, and workpice conditions, it would be approx. 1/15 of the speed determined by the gearhead reduction ratio.

Q15. Are thermal protectors provided on motors?

They're provided with motors 60W or more, but not with 40W motors or smaller.

Q16. Can MISUMI provide conveyors with reversible motors?

Since reversible motors are not in the design specifications, they are not available, even as a special order.

Q17. Can stepping motors be used?

Since stepping motors are not in the design specifications, they are not available, even as a special order.

Q18. Where are motor wiring diagrams listed?

Please refer to the conveyor instruction manual.

Q19. How long are the variable speed motor extension cables?

It is 1 meter.

Q20. What is the difference between a variable speed motor and constant speed motor?

Constant speed motor runs at a constant speed, variable speed motor can be adjusted for lower speeds.

Q21. What are the Max./Min. speeds of variable speed motors?

Maximum speeds will be the maximum belt speed values shown on the catalog, the minimum speeds would be approx. 1/15 of the Max. speeds.

Q22. Can I use inverters on a single phase power input motor?

MISUMI does not offer single-phase power compatible inverters.

Q23. What are the differences between the motor types?

Constant speed motors (IM) operate at constant speeds where the speed is determined by the gearhead reduction ratio.
Variable speed motor (SCM) can be adjusted for speed with a speed control potentiometer. In that case, the speeds shown on the gearhead reduction ratio table are the maximum speeds.
Inverter (INV) will be required to adjust speeds by frequency control. It allows for intermittent operation and operation in either CW or CCW directions depending on control methods used. However, MISUMI conveyors are intended for simple conveyance applications, and such operations as shown above are not necessarily guaranteed.
